And I thought I lived in the most expensive city in the world! It's not even mentioned here, so I wonder how they compare!
1bigestivediscuit, I take it you live in London? It is super expensive, but I guess it's been overshadowed by the likes of Oslo and Zurich. Western Europe might not contain the most expensive city in the world, but we have a very high concentration of very expensive cities.
2Wow... 0/5. I thought I'd guess right at least once
3Lol and i thought the nyc was expensive excuse me
4living close to NYC, and having traveled to Moscow, i can CERTAINLY say that Moscow is the most expensive. i'd never even seen a pair of $700 jeans in a "regular" mall before!
...the food there is cheap, at least.
5Yeah I read somewhere about Moscow being the most expensive and I thought that was pretty interesting! Too bad that's the only one I got right lol!
6i guess i need to pay more attention to these types of things since i'm not as aware of these things as i had thought.
7I got 0/5! How sad...I thought for sure that London was the most expensive city in the world. The pound is worth twice more the US dollar right now so I can't imagine how expensive Moscow is in comparison.
8The only one I knew for sure was Tokyo because I visited a supermarket when I was there. I can't remember how much an apple costs there anymore. I just remember it was damn expensive. And all of the apples somehow look absolutely identical (clones?).
9The most expensive place I have lived is Edinburgh - its way up there, though London is (And much of England is, by comparison to Scotland) pretty extreme when it comes to even basic homes and lifestyle. Especially coming from the USA it was an utter shock what things cost, as the dollar had dropped in value over the years since I left.
Europe is better, at least I find so far that the Scandinavian countries are a balance in cost of living between the UK and the USA, but here you also learn to be happier with less. Finland is lovely, and things are pleasant and green and comfortable here, but you never see the gi-normous houses of the USA (which I for one, approve of), or the massive cars...the USA still seems really inexpensive to me compared to other countries, even with the recent price hikes I think they are just now catching up to us on gas prices, for instance.
10Well I did pants on the quiz but I don't know much about those cities! I do have friends in Russia, though, and of course Finland being next door hear more about the daily lives and economy there than I would have in the USA.
Moscow is totally insane price-wise, and from what my friends tell me there is a huge financial gap between the ultra-rich, and ...well, most everyone else. Even as both his parents are comfortably employed as university profs, they live pretty humbly by standards I reckon the average American would call "normal".
Its always a trade off though. Living here I maybe gave up some conveniences (like sushi down the street and bookstores the size of malls
)....but I don't miss being forced to own and drive a car every day,
I like knowing I have EU healthcare protection, low crime, low pollution and low crowding.
11I only got 2 right. But I was kind of sure of the Moscow question b/c I helped my mom book a trip there recently and the prices were outrageous.
121 out of 5...I need to renew my subscription to the Wall Street Journal, apparently.
131/5... Never been to any of these places!
