The Beijing 2008 Games are the most expensive Olympics ever held, which is saying a lot considering the Athens 2004 Games came with a hefty $16 billion price tag. China is taking its host responsibilities seriously and has come through with a memorable opening ceremony and enormous venues suitable for Olympians. All of the attention and glory comes with a price — guess how much!

6wow - if you think about the deficit over here in the US and then consider the cost of the games - you have to wonder about things. granted a lot of the $$ for the Olympics comes from endorsements - so that's got to help a bit. companies paying to have major advertising and the sort on property.
7Holy cow, that's... insane. I can't even imagine spending that much money on anything, even if it's that huge. .... It blows my mind.
8That is insane. Good to know China has that money to throw around. How about sending some of that money back to your citizens.
