Lol I just cut that card up and closed that account? I'm down to one store credit card. I do have a question. Is it true that it helps your credit to have a few cards open even if you don't
use them often or at all? I know quite a few people who believe that even though it goes against the advice of cutting up cards to clean up credit for if you want to buy a house.
Yep, I just got a Macy's card -- my first and only credit card (?!) -- and I only got it because it knocked $40 off the price of my new MbMJ skirt. I couldn't pass it up.
I have VS, Express, & BananaRepublic/Gap/Old Navy. Both the VS & the Express I pay off right there after I charge on it, I can't with my Gap card, but I always pay it off in full.
I've never carried a balance over. Plus I get good coupons & deals in the mail from these stores!
I got in sooo much trouble a several years ago with a VS card and an Old Navy card. Basically I didn't pay my bills and ended up having a collection agency after me for the Old Navy money.
The VS I paid off one day and cut it up.
Nordstom is my only store specific card....I try to buy gifts there because of the awesome return policy, have no online shipping charges, and get 'bucks' back to spend on products! Plus I
get to go to fun previews and sip champagne at the store and get hooked up with tailoring perks!
I have VS card that I never used and now I'm having an issue with them because someone in a store in Portland used my account number to make a purchase. As soon as this is over with I'm
closing the account. i know it helps to show you have available credit with no balance but I don't need this kind of hassle over a card I know I won't use
um, a bunch actually, but they all have a $0 balance. i use them when i get good deals with the use of the card and then i pay off the balance ASAP. i wish i could that with my non-store
credit cards.
yep and I am trying to pay them off and get rid of most of them. I have a Gap card that I originally got for the kids clothes years ago when my kids still fit in their clothing. It did come
in handy for back to school. I have Victorias Secret and I will NOT get rid of that one!! LOL. I also have Macys, JC penney, and Bloomingdales. I may get rid of Macys and Penneys but I LOVE
Bloomingdales!
I have a Banana Republic card but I don't really use it that often (read: ever) because the bill is sent to my parents and I don't like to keep track of how much I owe them or really ever owe
them at all. Whenever I shop at Old Navy/BR/Gap, I always just end up using my regular credit card so I don't have to deal with it. Probably defeats the purpose, I guess.
These are a big ripoff unless you pay off the balance in full every time. Sure you get a discount on your Macy's purchase but did you look at the interest rate? It is insane.
well..i do but they aren't from being opened through my own name. my mom opened accounts when i was younger, and now i have cards from that account. personally - i don't really have any
credit cards period that i use
Just a Macys card. It's a good deal for me, because we get so many discounts with it and the balance I carry is usually low. We bought a comforter set and my card and a sale got it from $400
to $180. Not bad.
I've got a Gap card. It's the one store where I consistently find clothes that fit me and look professional enough for me. So yes, it's another card to handle, but I like getting the
deals...though I know all sorts of arguments for NOT having store cards.
The only VS store credit card I own. I rarely use it. I don't like store credit cards. The only one I considered getting was maybe a Target one because I shop there so much. LOL!
I have a VS and Sears card. The VS is paid off and the Sears i feel will never be paid off. The interest rate is sooo high, I am going to have to start paiying any extra money i have towards
it.
Nope I've considered it, but right now I don't think the rewards outweigh the possible risk, like that whole tj maxx fiasco. When you put your identity out there too much I worry that it may
come back to bite me.
i have Bloomies, Neiman's, Banana, J Crew, and VS. Neiman's is necessary cause they only accept their own card or Amex and i don't have Amex. I used to shop at Banana and Crew all the time,
so those cards used to be helpful because they gave coupons and gift cards when i spent enough. I don't really use them anymore. VS i rarely use but they still send me coupons for free
underwear, so that is nice lol. and Bloomie's i haven't used in a while, but they send coupons too so i keep them.
I've actually been really good for the past 6 months or so about only using my Visas. (yea i have 3 of those lol)
I have a gap (which means Banana Republic and Old Navy Card) and Victoria's Secret. Ive been so good with paying my debt that they keep increasing my spending limit!!!
The only credit cards I'm willing to have right now are store-specific! Mine are for American Eagle and HP. I used to have an Abercrombie and Fitch card, but I went through a long period of
not liking anything they came out with and canceled it.
Like many of you, I have a VS card too. I love it! They send me great coupons and offers - I recently ordered a new Biofit, matching undies, two pairs of jeans, three turtleneck sweaters, and
a nice work shirt all under $125 (including shipping!). I pay back the balance in full and never keep a revolving balance.
Lately my biggest pet peeve when I am shopping is when the sales folks are so pushy with the store credit cards. "Are you SURE? You can save 10%!".
It isn't just a coupon...a credit card request is going to go onto my credit report, and that card will be there whether I ever use it again or not. In my younger years I had quite a few
store cards, and I've paid them all off, but it still bothers me to see all those cards in my credit history.
you have no idea how many times i've been asked at banana republic, j.crew, victoria's secret, etc. if i wanted to open a credit card to save money. i always say no. i don't trust myself with
a credit card lol. the only cards i have is a bank of america debit card and a credit card that my parents pay for, which i use for necessities like gas, groceries, and bills.
Someday when I have a "real" job and can afford to feed my J. Crew cravings that'll happen. Until then I just use my debit card. (I earn airline miles!)
@Melo D Yes it is good to have a couple credit cards open even if you don't use them. One thing that counts in looking at your credit is the length of your relationships w/ your creditors. So
unless you can't keep from using them or have messed them up don't close out your oldest cards.

2i have kohls card
3I've got nothing, and no credit cards. I keep thinking I should, but I just worry about getting into debt!
4I have VS, Express, & BananaRepublic/Gap/Old Navy. Both the VS & the Express I pay off right there after I charge on it, I can't with my Gap card, but I always pay it off in full. I've never carried a balance over. Plus I get good coupons & deals in the mail from these stores!

8Nope! None for me

10I guess not, technically speaking, I have a sephora card but it's not a credit card.
11yep and I am trying to pay them off and get rid of most of them. I have a Gap card that I originally got for the kids clothes years ago when my kids still fit in their clothing. 12I used to have quite a few but I haven't used any of them in years. I'm not sure if I cancelled them or not. Guess I better find out.

14To clarify, I meant on a credit score basis. A simple response is all I really wanted. Thanks for the messages though.
15VS, Neiman Marcus, and Banana Republic (which is also my Visa card).
16I have a Macy's and a Nordstrom card - mostly for the rewards certifics that I get.
17I got one only - Macy card.
18VS, JcPenney, Best Buy, but I don't owe anything on any of them.
19These are a big ripoff unless you pay off the balance in full every time. Sure you get a discount on your Macy's purchase but did you look at the interest rate? It is insane.
20Just one...Neiman's. Apart from that I use my MC that gives us American Airlines miles.
21JcPenny, Kohls, Ny&Co.
22Ann Taylor, VS, and Old Navy
23None whatsoever. Nor do i intend on getting anything.
24well..i do but they aren't from being opened through my own name. my mom opened accounts when i was younger, and now i have cards from that account. personally - i don't really have any credit cards period that i use

26I have a Macy's, Best Buy and Home Depot. A girls' gotta have all her bases covered!
27I dont have any store specific cards. I have one Amex and one Visa, they seem to cover all the bases.
28I've got a Macy*s card that I haven't used in ages and a Gap card I use frequently.
29I've got a Gap card. It's the one store where I consistently find clothes that fit me and look professional enough for me. So yes, it's another card to handle, but I like getting the deals...though I know all sorts of arguments for NOT having store cards.
30just about got em all!
31I rock an Express, GAP/Old Navy/Banana, and Macy's. I only use the Macy's card because everyday seems like a One-Day Sale with it.
32The only VS store credit card I own. I rarely use it. I don't like store credit cards. The only one I considered getting was maybe a Target one because I shop there so much. LOL!
33I have a Gap Card but thats it. And even that is dangerous!

45Victoria Secret
