It may seem like a faraway reality unless you plan on retiring young, but retirement issues affect us all today because of the Social Security system in the US. The Social Security Administration has admitted that young workers won't be able to count on our less-than-minimum-wage benefits through retirement, and there's some discussion about whether or not it makes sense to raise the retirement age.
Do you know how old you must be in order to receive full Social Security benefits during retirement?

hmm
1I hope to retire by 50
I knew nothing! Thank goodness my company has a retirement plan and retiree healthy insurance so I can survive those 12 yrs before social security- I don't plan on working past 55 which will be 30yrs in the industry for me!
22/2--guess who retired early?
3I think you'd have to be pretty stupid to count on Social security for retirement. I'm saving for retirement just in case, but with the way things are going in the world, none of us may be around to enjoy a retirement.
467? God that's a long way off.
5Hmm, looks like my 401k "target retirement fund" through vanguard is based on 65, not 67. That's weird. I'll have to check on that.
That being said, I really can't imagine working til I'm 67. Maybe it's just because my parents and many of their peers retired early.
I'd better find a new career (or 5) if I'm gonna be working 39 more years *sob*
6Wow, I learn something new everyday! 47 more years until retirement age for me.
7darn!! I thought it was 65 but second guessed myself when I saw 62!! 1/2
8whoops, i didn't do so well. but yay for points... that's new.
9I didn't even bother doing the test because I have no idea. I am surely not depending on the gov't to support me when I retire they couldn’t even get mailing out my stimulus check right (which for the record I still haven’t rec’d). When I started college at 17 and got my first part-time job I opened a Roth IRA account for myself and I've been funding it ever since. I also have 401K through my job which matched the 1st 4%. So I'll stop working at 50 maybe 55.
10well damn, I have twice my age plus another decade and a year. I'll never get there! 39 years.
I don't think I'll mind working as long as it's doing something that I love - 'cause I want to live to be a hundred. That would leave me with another 33 years of being with great grandchildren and hopefully more extended family!
