Commuting is a daily part of life, but thankfully it seems Savvy readers don't spend too much time heading to and fro (32 percent of you say you are on the road for about a half hour).
We keep hearing that commuters' quality of life is going down the pump, so I want to know what your style is. Do you take a plane, train, or automobile to work?

I voted and saw that 100 percent said they drive to work alone! and then I realized I was the only vote, haha.
1I drive alone, but I drive a Prius and only work 3 miles (city streets -- the best mileage for my car) from home.
2My commute is the bane of my existence at the moment. 30-35 minutes there in the morning, and usually about 45 minutes (sometimes as long as an hour and once an hour and a half) to get home in the evening.
3i drive to work alone b/c i also have a part-time job after work, so no carpooling for me.
4I walk every day, to and from! It's cardio, iPod time, and very refreshing. It's like my sanity time, as opposed to when I drove, which I consider my INsanity time.
5My office is only 6 blocks from my home, so I usually walk. But since I hurt my ankle last month, the boyfriend has been dropping me off and picking me up.
6I take the bus or metro--usually bus b/c I like being above ground.
7I take the bus than BART to work which drops me of my like 20 feet from work. Also my commute takes about 30 minutes tops gotta love that.
8I walk to my bedroom and usually still in PJs. One of the best parts about working from home!
9My broom!
10I've been taking the subway Mon-Thu and Fridays I drive.
11I'm looking at a new commute to college which could involve three different buses, or two buses and BART, or a bus and two ferries and a bus, or a car and two ferries and a bus, or a car and two buses, or a car and a bus and BART. All I know is, can't afford the gas to drive the whole way in our most reliable car.
12I drive about 30 minutes each way to and from work and I SO WISH I had the option of taking a train or something because I really hate driving. Seriously, our state's public transportation system really sucks big time and we NEED a serious overhaul...commuter buses or a commuter train would help so much.
13CTA... 15 minutes door to door. On sunday night [because it is the only night I get off early], I walk home... it's about 6 miles.
14Sadly I commute alone by car to work five days a week because nobody else I work with lives near me to make it worth while. However, I am learning while I drive because I get materials from the library such as a new language, French, or I rent a book on CD.
It makes it easier believe me!
15CTA - 20 mins in the morning and 30 in the evening. On the way to work - I get dropped off in front of the building.
16I used to carpool. Everyone from my carpool went to a different branch though. I would bike to work but I would have to ride through a not so friendly neighborhood in the dark. Currently I'm trying to find new people to carpool with.
17When I used to work and live in NYC, I took the subway train to work. When I got married, I moved to the suburbs, so I drove to work. But I quit working and now I stay at home and do business at home,I don't commute to work anymore.
18I drive to school Mondays-Thursdays and its only a 15 minute commute by car.
19It's a far drive so I would love to do it with someone, but no one lives close enough to me. :/ Plus, I have school one day a week, and I go early and stay after work quite a bit as well, so it may be difficult to coordinate schedules.
20I walk both ways. October - April, I love the walk, but once May rolls around, the walk is MISERABLE. Now that it is 95+ degrees and 200% humidity everyday, I arrive to work everyday dripping sweat from places where I seriously didn't know it was possible to sweat. I loathe summer in DC.
21Thankfully I'm a scientist so appearance does not matter at all, so it doesn't matter that I arrive at work looking like I waded through a swamp -- totally unprofessional.
Drive alone BUT it's only a 2min drive- yes I know I should walk- but unfort my office goes under I-10 which is one of the widest interstates in the world as it passes through Houston- it's such a shame because there used to be a pedestrian path through the overpass but when they widened the interstate they destroyed the path, so walking now under I10 would be extremely dangerous- it's so annoying!
22i take the bus and the train. it takes an hour and a half, each way.
i can't wait to move.
23I drive alone to work, but I have to make site visits and drive around town while getting reimbursed for mileage.
24I love my express bus in the morning, I get a great view of Chicago's beautiful skyline and the lake. Couldn't ask for anything better. Except maybe sitting next to a handsome, good smelling man in a sexy suit heading off to work
25A combination of walking and the bus, or bus only or Tube only. I really enjoy not having the responsibility of driving.
26I drive to and from work alone which is a 20 minute drive each way.
27i saw that i take the train - but it's really the subway since i'm in NY but that's a train right? i'm a bit thankful that i don't have to drive cause there are way too many people on the roads here, and although the subway car gets kind of packed during rush hour, it's still a bit faster at times.
28Uggg I have to drive alone everyday. It sucks. I live far from my work now and my car is a guzzler I just can't afford anything else at the moment
I wish I could take public transit, but our transit system is the sh*ts!

30I drive alone, it's my only option.
31VESPA!!!!
32I drive the 2.1 miles alone.
Used to: drive 1 mile to the train (locomotive) and then walk.
Before that I: drove 10 miles to a bus stop and then to the metro.
I've done it all, minus riding camel back into town.
33I carpool to work with my fiance...the bus would be about $10 cheaper per month (total, not per person), and possibly better for the environment, but it would also turn our 25 min drive into a 90 minute hassle. Our Camry still gets 28 mpg city/32 highway, so we're happy.
34There's no effective way to get to my office with public transit, but I'm currently hunting for apartments that would shorten my commute by half, and my husband will be taking the train in to the city for school
35I would try to walk the distance, but my office is about 24 miles from my house. And public transportation is non-existent out here. Carpooling is also not an option because of my location and where I work. So I drive, alone.
36I actually do a combo of two - I drive then I have to take the train into the city... very annoying.
37I work 6a-3p usually. But because of gas prices, my sister and I started carpooling two days a week for now. We'd carpool more often if her job allowed her to work an early shift instead of 9a-6p.
I really wish South San Jose had better public transportation...I'd definitely take the VTA and bus then. (The nearest VTA station is 2 miles away from work..and the nearest bus station is a mile away from work..It's not exactly comfy to hike a mile in business clothes. :T )
38I forgot to add the commute time! My sister &I both work down the street from each other...and our commute is 15min at the most. It's a beautiful commute!! Especially because it's against traffic headed to the city (SF).
39I usually bike 3 days a week and drive 2. I live 2.6 miles away from work.
BUT, we are experiencing massive heat & humidity here in TN, so I am taking a bit of a break.
40I work 6 miles from my house, which is just a little too far for me to walk or ride a bike. I would love to use public transportation, but it isn't available, so unfortunately I drive to work by myself.
41How do I commute? Angrily!
42By car, alone...I have to drive about 100 miles round trip a day and it takes an average of 50 minutes to get to work. everyone I work with lives close to work and I don't so I can't carpool, it's sucks! I wish BART would extend to the central valley (CVRT!)
