As much as most of us would like to believe we're invincible super workers who don't require a day off here and there, the truth is that we need some time away from the office to collect ourselves.
There's just something satisfying about not being in the office and doing whatever we please (even if it means doing nothing at all) when we're supposed to be working the day away. Not counting your regular weekend break from the work week, when is the last time you took a day off?

I stayed home sick a few weeks ago, but my last "day off" was June 10 for my anniversary. Next is starting August 8 when I'll be gone for a week up north
1Last Friday! The SO and I lounged around, watched movies, and made some delicious food. It was so relaxing.
2Friday, June 27th. I have a couple of bonus days I will be taking off soon.
3I had to check my vacation log! Two days in March. I think I just wanted a break and there was a lull in work, so I took the days. Lots of my days off are just a chance to sleep in -- not exciting but much appreciated! Next I'm taking a week in August to go to the beach -- we leave in less than 3 weeks!
4I took a day off in June for a wedding, but I am pretty frugal about my days off since I don't get that many.
5I took an extra day off for my birthday vacation, calling in "sick". she totally knew I was full of crap, but she didn't give me a lot of trouble about it.
6I took two days off at the beginning of the month just because my husband had to be to work early and I didn't feel like getting up. I love sleeping in in the morning and as bad as I felt about being off from work for something so stupid, I totally loved the days off. I think I am going to start using my time off just so I don't get so stressed.
7July 9th-10th. And even then, work called for no apparent reason!!
8Last week... and then two weeks before that. Took Thursday off [which is my Friday] to give myself a longer weekend.
9FRIDAY! and that was the first one in a looong time (besides a stat)
10July 19th. But I still ended up doing chores at home.
11the beginning of june. i called in sick so that i could go to the fair.
12June 30.
13July 18th because its was my birthday holiday but I just wanted it because. I was able to feel like I was back in high school when i used to cut class!!!
14The week of July 4th. Our boss told us we could "work" from home. Which just means we need to be available, love my blackberry for that reason.
15Last Thursday I was sick with a tummy bug. It sucked, but it was nice to not work and be able to catch up on my tivo!!!
16I took a Friday off about 2 months ago to get the house ready for a dinner party that evening.
17I took a day off a few weeks back but had to take my SO to the ER
So no fun and relaxing
there. I've not taken a day off just to relax in almost a year, but I guess that's what happens when it's a small company that would end up calling you at home anyway.
18I actually took today off. I woke up and got dressed, drove half way to work and called in because I was no place to go into the office today. I really needed a mental health day to relax and not think about a million things. I am glad I didn't go in because I wouldn't have been pleasant to be around or very productive. I now feel ready to go again and am grateful for a little break.
19I've been considering it for weeks and this article has convinced me - i'm taking tommorrow off!
20I took off a Tuesday and Wednesday at the beginning of the month to go up to a concert out of town. Before that, I think it was in December of last year because I would've lost vacation days if I didn't take them! I don't like taking time off unless I'm going away.
Besides, with the economy being the way it is and our company already having had one round of layoffs, I'd like to hang onto as much vacation pay as possible, just in case.
21see that's a good question. i wasn't feeling well about 2 weeks ago and stayed home from the office, BUT i worked from home ALL day - so it's not like i took the day off.
i have scheduled to take 2 'summer friday' days off in the next week - one on friday and one the following monday for a long weekend. i figure that the company gives them to me and if i don't use them, then i lose them and that's a shame!
22I haven't technically taken a day off since last September, but I manage a restaurant and have a 7-day work week running from Sunday-Saturday instead of 5 days like most people. I get 2 days a week off, so those days could be Friday-Monday, giving me a 4 day weekend. I did that just a few weeks ago
23as a stay-at-home mom, i don't get days off. not weekends. not when i'm sick. never. if i wanted a day off, i'd have to pay someone to watch my children.
24so, enjoy those days off from your jobs, ladies, and take advantage while you can!
July 9th. I went to Cedar Point and rode a lot of roller coasters!
25I'm very lucky in my work environment. But it's very important to me to take days off. It refreshes me and recharges me. I have no desire to be a "superworker." I take ALL of my vacation time and I don't hesitate to take a sick day as a "mental health" as long as I'm not leaving someone else in the lurch.
26I took a week of vacation in June, and I've got another one coming up in August. =) Last year I only got to take one week so I'm extremely excited about 2 this year!!
27I worked for a tourist attraction/amusement park that was open 365 days a year, and no work/no paycheck was the rule. No vacation or sick days given, unless you are one of the few elite managers. My coworkers and I worked when we were sick or if we were healthy. If we were called for jury duty, they just scheduled it to be our day off, so forget getting paid for it. It would've been nice to be sick at home, but the rent needed to be paid. This is the way the real world operates. I am extremely fortunate now to be married to a sweet husband who told me to take a year and just work part-time and go to full-time next year. He decided that since I worked more than 10 years without a vacation before we married, we could make some sacrifices and give me some "time off". Long-winded story over, I guess today is my "day off"!
28Saving them all up for the Honeymoon and wedding in Nov.!!
299 days in total....but my work gives out half days when U reach certain goals...so I still get extra days off too.
Ever since graduating college, I've made sure to take periodic "mental health" days where I stay home from work and do only things I want to do. I try to take 1 per month (obviously, some months this slides if I'm busy, but in that case, I make sure to take the first non-busy day I have off).
I find that if I go too long without some kind of break, my work suffers because I'm exhausted and unbalanced.
30I can't remember the last time I took a day off... do the cumulative hours of eating and sleeping count? lol
31Hahaha I am taking tomorrow off!
Last time before that was June 28
