No more need for the rumorville, because Starbucks has released a list of the 616 stores that will close their doors for good by June 2009. You may have just been getting to know the green-aproned staff at these locations, as most were opened sometime in the last two years.
The 616 of Starbucks's 7,087 total US stores were unprofitable and many could identify another Starbucks as neighbors. While this close proximity would make it easy to borrow milk, it did nothing to increase sales. You can discover if your neighborhood's Starbucks will be permanently hanging up the closed sign by checking out a map of the exact locations.

Hmm, only two closings here in Austin. They're not closing the one I stop by during work coffee breaks.
1I don't understand why people are making such a big deal out of this; 616 stores nationwide is not that many. A person might actually have to walk TWO blocks to get their coffee- shameful.
2y????????????????????????????? would u do this!!!!! its the end days....lol
3They just built one in a terrible location near us this past winter and they're closing it.
4They're closing the only one in our town... sigh.
5I'm NOT very happy about it. There's not another one near here. =(
Hoaxers - thank you! I was shocked when I went to NYC. There's a Starbucks on every block. Do we really need a Starbucks on every block?!
6The only ones closing near me, are all in retirement villages. Seems that the older folks dont like that bitter nasty coffee either
7I could care less if they shut down all of them, there coffee is overrated.
8yes!! none of my locals are closing!!! YIPPEE!!
