Restrictive budgets are certainly not for everyone but that doesn't mean you're not meant to be a budget person at all. Some people need to keep a tighter financial leash than others, and your budgeting practices should reflect how well you know yourself. If you cannot spend less than you earn without a spending plan then you're more likely to benefit from a categorized budget every month.
For those of you feel too constrained by a strict budget but would be better off following a spending plan, simply leave some leeway in your budget. Set a budget using ranges instead of exact numbers and stay within the range. Once you're in tune with your spending habits you could reduce the range over time for added challenge.

I do this w/my grocery budget. Given how prices tend to ALWAYS go up, it definitely gives me the option to spend within that range. Usually, I spend a lot less!
1I need to budget my money a bit better. I don't think I'm the type of person that needs a strict budget...then again, I'm might be in denial about the amount of $$ i'm actually spending. So...I'll be creating a simple not so restrictive budget to start off with.
2For the last 6 months, I have been budgeting down to the penny on items-right down to pads, when to buy, bulk buy, and how much I spend. It's paying off so I am really hoping to get some things out the way.
3After spending the majority of my twenties struggling with finances and budgeting, I have finally fallen in love with the process known as budgeting.
4It is very hard to stick to a budget. I create a general budget for myself. Sometimes I stick to it, other times I don't. I just make sure there is cushion for me in case I do go over one month or the next.
5Right now I'm taking note of everything I buy and being careful of *what* and *why* I buy it. Once I've worked out my habits for some months I'll try a budget and see how it goes.
