Dad-to-Be's Irrationality Is Gas-Price Induced

Gas prices are officially making people irrational. When Floridian David Partin heard the hosts of the Dixon & Willoughby show ask what listeners would do for a $100 gas card, he called the station and told them he'd let the hosts name his unborn child.

Other callers offered things like a stuffed animal collection and house cleaning in a skimpy outfit. The hosts knew they wouldn't receive a better offer than David's, and agreed that he would win the gift card if David and his pregnant girlfriend name their baby Dixon Willoughby Partin.

The gift card won't make its way into David's hands until he produces a birth certificate, but the hosts may get a collection of stuffed animals after all. David is now weighing his options — since the story hit the news he says, "I had some friends and people out there asking what I'd say if they offered us more money for the name."

100$ worth of gas?! Totally not worth it... Celebs are pimping out pictures for millions of dollars and this guy will name his baby after radio hosts for a couple of weeks worth of gas (depending on your car)... I wonder what his pregnant girlfriend had to say about that?

I would never name my baby that for a little over a tank of gas. That is crazy!

Wait... so is it a $100 gift card or $100 worth of free gas? It doesn't actually say anything about gasoline in the article.

That's a little ridiculous if you ask me. But I'm sure he's got the "hindsight is 20/20" feeling going on right about now.

Considering the average price for gas in California is about $4.50, that's like two tanks of gas. Totally not worth it.

foxie, "$100 gas card" is in the title & the first sentence of the article.

this is so ridiculous. although, that's not the worst name in the world. better than Knox Leon. Maybe Bradgelina should have taken these guys up on their offer.

that's kind of funny actually - and it's sad to see the lengths that people will go for either gas or $$.

I read this somewhere else and I heard that the child was going to be named Dixon & Willoughby, yes with the AND... so idk why this article is saying that his name will be Dixon Willoughby. And as ridiculous as the idea sounds of the man naming his firstborn son after radio hosts for $100 gas card (I mean the hosts should've pitched in more than that! That's ridic... selling the right to name your child-- AND for a measly $100 gas card! That might not even fill up their entire tank, depending what type of vehicle they drive)., Dixon Willoughby really isnt that bad a name. It's a heckuva lot better than Dweezil Zappa, Moon Unit, Pilot Inspektor, or Kal-El!
