In-Flight Movies Are Becoming a Perk of the Past

Jul 11 2008 - 4:04am

Can you remember the last in-flight movie that you watched? The titles offered by airlines have rarely been riveting, but they've probably served as a good distraction from the person in the next seat inevitably stealing your armrest. Start downloading some more entertainment on your iPod, because in-flight movies are becoming obsolete.

US Airways is the first carrier to announce they will be removing in-flight entertainment [1] systems on domestic flights because they weigh about 500 pounds each, and their removal should save about $10 million annually. Don't be surprised when other airlines play copycat.
