Leave it to Hallmark to interpret the state of the economy into an opportunity for producing a new line of greeting cards. They've recently introduced a range of sympathy cards intended for those affected by job loss. If someone lets you know they've lost their job you should be ready with kind words of encouragement — would you consider letting a greeting card do the work for you?

Tacky. It's good to empathize with people's job loss but expressing it in a card is way too tacky.
Yikes no!
How embarrasing.
Depending on the situation I might send a note of sympathy, but they would be my own words. Pre-printed sentiments always ring hollow.
I'd send a few words of my own if I really care. A Hallmark card would probably come off feeling like mockery.
Wayyy tacky.
i be P*ssed....lol
I would be annoyed with anyone if they sent me a sympathy card after a lay off. It would seem almost like gloating.
If it came with a volley of contact information for people they could network with to get a new job MAYBE.
If it's a good friend, I would express some words of sympathy and encouragement. I would probably tell them, though, not write words.
Wow, interesting. Not surprising, though, considering I used to work at a Hallmark, and we had sympathy cards for women going through menopause. I don't think I'd personally buy one of those cards. I prefer buying blank cards and writing my own notes.
I think they sound really caring! I wouldn't mind getting one. If anyone wants to send me one please do!
I think a simple "I'm sorry to hear that." is quite sufficient in this circumstance.
Not appropriate for something like that
Yuck, I don't know. Never had it happen to me or a close one...I would say if it happened to me, save the card and send me 5 bucks instead.
