Insurance is available for most things that are valuable to us like health, homes, and vehicles, and it makes sense that you may consider protecting your jewelry. You can purchase additional insurance for jewelry as a rider through your current provider or through an insurer recommended to you by the appraiser. After your jewelry has been appraised you simply select the type, or how much coverage, you'd like for it.
Engagement rings and precious family heirlooms are often insured by their owners because of the sentimental and monetary value. Do you own any jewelry that's insured?

no....
1right now, I only have a a couple supre nice chains and a pendent, .5C diamond earrings, and a gold ring with emeralds and three .10C diamonds.
What a pretty ring she has!
2Yup. Just the engagement ring....so far.
3my insurance agent (allstate) said only jewelry worth $1000+ needs to be insured separately from your homeowner's policy.
4My engagement ring is insured. My husband designed it and took it to the jeweler to actually make it, so it's extra special. But this reminds me that I do have another ring that my uncle gave me after my aunt passed away that I should probably insure.
5Not sure if it's worth getting insurance coverage on my Forever21 necklace collection.
6My wedding/engagement ring is.
7I don't have any jewelry that cost over $100.
8LOL javsmav!!
I need to insure my engagement ring and a pair of gold & emerald earrings my mom gave me that were hers. I have a lot of gold jewelry that i'm sure add up to more than 1K all together, I'd have to take those in and get them appraised.
9I'd insure it if I had anything worth insuring, but I don't think it's necessary to insure a bunch of $4.99 Wet Seal hoop earrings
10RosaDilia, I should clarify what my agent told me -- with allstate at least, you only need to separately insure each individual piece that is worth $1000+, so even though I have a bunch of nice pearls and some gold pieces, the only thing I had to insure separately was my engagement ring.
11My engagement and wedding rings are insured. Most of the rest of jewelry is from Target, so no.
12Thanks lawchick.
13No. Bottom line, my jewelry (including my wedding set) is a luxury item. In the undesirable event that they're lost, stolen, or damaged, I can still live a happy life without them. But truthfully, though, we can afford to replace them.
Incidently, many of my pieces are from high-end designers.
14You should always insure high ticket items separately, just in case. Some homeowner's insurance will only cover if the loss if it happens in the home.
15my engagement ring is. I still have to send in our wedding band information.
16i just got engaged and my fiance and i are getting it insured - added onto our renters insurance policy for right now actually - just in case.
17I think it's important to insure your jewelry. A lot of times renters or homeowners insurance will cover a portion of it. My renters insurance (with State Farm) does. It's funny how the younger generation (like say under 35) doesn't value jewelry the same way the older generations do. Jewelry was an investment. Now Wal-Mart is the #1 seller of jewelry in the country. How sad.
18Yup- my engagement ring is insured. Boy was I happy about that when a side stone fell out and was lost two days prior to the wedding and I was nearly in tears calling my agent.
He was able to get me an emergency about at a jeweler (out of my home state!) the next morning to fix everything, no charge.
19i love jewerlis
20I probably should insure some of my stuff. I am slowly but surely getting the family heirlooms. When I get married, I will insure my wedding ring.
21wedding ring is insured and its pennies a year which is worth it to me to insure plus who cares if it is a luxury item so is my car and its insured
22Definitely - My bling is worth some cha-ching!
