I recently asked if you love your job or just the paycheck and about 60 percent of you said you do it for the cold hard cash. While I understand monetary compensation is often the most weighty factor in job and career selection (we all gotta eat, right!), it can't hurt to strive for a job that is fulfilling financially, intellectually, and emotionally.
Wacky workplaces like the one depicted on The Office don't suit everyone, but I've found that my friends who work at companies that celebrate humor, creativity, and the ongoing achievements and accomplishments of employees are the most content.
Is there a single factor or shift that would make you happier at your current job?

There are a few things that I love about my job - the flexibility from the top and the benefits are fabulous. The compensation - not so much.
What would make it better? To be honest, having more work and responsibilities. I feel like there are influxes throughout the year where I work really hard on a lot of interesting projects, and then the rest of the year is very slow and boring. I would love to have these projects year round and have more room to be creative.
1More money.
Okay, okay, and feeling appreciated is also pretty sweet.
2I wouldn't mind if the directors and other managers offered me to be more involved in the office projects and conferences. I would learn more and it would allow me to perform better at my job and have higher chances for promotion opportunities in the future.
3Honestly, my company is great. It's a fun place to work, the people are awesome, and employees are compensated and rewarded fairly. There are a ton of perks, a great environment, no dress code, etc.
My issue is that this just isn't the field I want to be working in. I'm not unhappy in this field, but it's not where I see myself for the rest of my life.
4I like my job
I just wish i got paid a tad bit more. I KNOW I can make more elsewhere...but I hate to leave this job
5I dunno what to do!
To not have any clients or people to please.
6There are a lot of things I like about my job, namely the flexibility which is great since I have a baby but I think I just need something else to keep me occupied, I feel like I just sit here all day doing nothing and while getting a check for sitting and surfing the web is great I need something more- what? I don't know ANYTHING! lol
7I love my job!
More money is always good, though!
8I would love my job even more if we had enough personnel to cover the shifts! As it is, we're always swamped and always having to cover for someone who wants off! (We're "officially" down 2 full-timers - but needed 2-4 more before we were down 2!!!) I'm tired. I'm over-worked. I'm frustrated. I've got way too much on my plate. But ... I LOVE my job and what I do! (I must be crazy!)
9The departure of one of my very annoying coworkers would be nice. Oh, and of course more money!
10I'd like a coworker. I work for a small company (4 people) and I'm the only one that is not family. I'm also the only one under 40. My job is great, and I love working here, but I had more fun when I had another 20-something around. He had to quit when he moved to get his Masters degree in another state, and they never hired a replacement.
Oh, and of course, more money would be nice.
11Right now, I'm between jobs (finishing my MBA). When I go back I REALLY want to telecommute.
12I like my job but I would love more schools and more money.
13I get paid very poorly so more money would make me very happy. Otherwise I am fairly content. I could stand to have more work at times actually as that would give me more of a challenge.
14I would like a promotion and a raise that reflect the additional work I've taken on over the last six months. But every time someone quits, and I get additional work, their position is eliminated due to budget cuts.
15Syako- I totally agree. I want more responsibilities and more challenging work. It's not a matter of proving myself, we've just run out of that kind of work for a while. I am so bored I cannot handle it.
And more money. I don't get paid enough.
16Higher pay and a more creative element, though I'd have to move into a different department for that!
17more money of course and time off at my convenience.
18I'm definately with Syako & Snowbunny... I would like more responsiblities. Also if my company offered more incentives along the lines of insurance/mileage, that would help!!
19I'd like to work in politics or for the federal or state government...my resume is being handed to someone who works at the world bank, wouldn't that an amazing job?
I'm an executive assistant right now and its um...not the most interesting of jobs...but it pays the bills right?
20My boss' retirement.
21More responsibilities.
More money.
22aside from $$ and a title, i think that having my own office would make me enjoy my job more. being at the level that i'm currently at, i should have my own office but in the era of 'open spaces' i don't and i HATE not having walls and a door.
23I love my job so much. I have my own office with amazing views, my colleagues are friendly, helpful, and social, my supervisor is supportive and makes me feel appreciated, the work is important and rewarding, and the benefits are unbelievable.
So OF COURSE this all must come to an end; it's just too good to be true (I work for the Senate, and my Senator is termed out in November
).
There's pretty much no way I'm going to find another job I like as much. But the pay could be better. . .
24I don't mind my job but if I had different management I love it.
25I am so incredibly thankful the job I have right now is only for the summer. I work for a software company helping them put together content for their user conference in September. I have been here for a month so far and I can count on both hands (and that's it) how many things I have done. The pay is great and the people I work with are wonderful, though.
26More money, as well. I'm paid below the average for my type of position.
I do love my job, though. It's flexible, I'm mostly unsupervised, I'm rarely at an office, and I'm often in very exciting environments with hot doctors/residents/interns. I hated sitting at a computer all day, so I was overjoyed when the bosses gave me a new position.
