Bonnie Eaker Weil, author of Financial Infidelity: Seven Steps to Conquering the #1 Relationship Wrecker, dubbed the term "pop shots" to put a name on "pissed-off purchases" made following a fight with your significant other. She ran a survey and found that people usually make these purchases three to four times a year at about $486 a shot.

Her results don't surprise me much as emotional spending is nothing new — retail therapy after a bad day is something most of us have turned to at least once, and stepping into your favorite boutique after a fight with your guy is of the same basic tune. The average $486 seems on the high side, but when you're angry and hurt clouds tend to usurp judgment.

I tend to go shopping almost every day [lol] regardless if my guy and I have a fight. But, I usually go shopping after I have had a bad/stressful day.
1I have never shopped after a fight with a guy or anyone. Usually, I may want to be alone or social with friends to get my mind off of it. I do like to shop sometimes for a new mask or hair conditioner as a treat for myself.
2I've never shopped after a fight with my bf ... the only retail therapy I do is when I'm stressed about something or "rewarding" myself for some (usually minor hahahaha) accomplishment!
3My retail therapy never exceeds $100.
4I do shop when we fight, but it always makes it better bc I'm taking from his pocket nook rather than my own. You would think he would learn to pick his fights a bit more wisely or at least hide his debit card before.
5I only shop when I need something or when something is coming out I have been waiting for (like a new book or video game). So things like having an argument don't really impact that...
6I never need an excuse to go shopping!
7I make a point of going to Forever 21 when I am in need of some retail therapy
8I think that if I could afford for my pissed-off purchases to total that much every time, they would...LOL!
9No.
The last thing I'd feel inclined to do is shop after quarreling. I'm not much of an angry or spiteful purchaser.
10I used to spoil myself too much after a tiff but I learned to not do that anymore, bad bad bad.
11I go shopping for other stressful things, like a bad day at work or exams or things like that.
12No i've never done that. I would be too distracted for retail therapy after an arguement .Besides that I really don't need anymore excuses to go shopping.
13I've shopped but not for that much! What gets me is the reciprocal purchases. For instance, if he buys something for $300 then she has to spend in that price range to even it out.
14i love retail therapy....
15I don't shop unless I need something, I don't go because I'm bored/angry/happy/sad/nervous/etc. All of my friends who do "retail therapy" are broke, no thanks.
