On Friday, President Bush said that the economic stimulus rebate checks would "help Americans offset the high prices we're seeing at the gas pump and the grocery store," and according to CNBC, government projections suggest that "consumers could use the checks to buy gas for about 75 days at current prices."

You're all highly aware of the number that registers on the gas pump each time you fill up, but do you know how much you're spending on gas each month compared to other drivers? Let's find out how much you're spending compared to everyone else by estimating how much of your monthly paycheck is going to gas.

That would actually be 93 days for me. And if I didn't drive to places other then work I could be close to doubling that, but still 93 days is only 3 months!
1Too damn much is what I pay per month.
2I pay around $150 depending on if I go out of town that month. I
my 2007 Toyota Camry!
3This poll is depressing!
4At this point, it would probably be around $180 for me each month if I basically only drive to work and back. That is sad. I feel dissuaded from going other places because I always calculate in terms of how much it would cost (e.g. going to a friend's house 10 miles away would almost be $4.00 roundtrip in gas.)
5Probably around $180 a month. sometimes more if i drive more.
That is so sad i used to just put in $20 a week and i was fine until the following week now it's easier to just fill the tank and then refill at a half tank because if i let it get below half for some reason it seems to go quicker.
6Zero. I love not having a car--no gas to buy, no repair costs, no insurance, no parking fees. I won't live in a city where I can't get by on public transportation.
7About $250.
8I pay about $300. =(
9We have a compact car and a 4 wheel drive pick up, so gas is like the rebate check total for a couple weeks!
10I fill up about 3 times a month, at close to $50 a pop. I pretty much only drive to work and back. Sigh...
11So glad that right now I don't have to drive...hopefully this mess will straighten out by the time I have to again
12wow... i thought i paid a lot.
13$50 fill ups every other week is just about 100.
I only spend about $30-50 a month depending on how much a drive. And that's in Los Angeles.
I drive a Prius by the way
14my commute to and from work 40 miles.. so i broke down and bought a prius vs my v6 mazda. My gas spending was cut in 1/2.
15I fill up twice a week because I live an hour away from work. At $50 a tank -- that's $400 a month! OUCH.
16well, for me and my husband it costs around $400 a month just for gas. I have a minivan, he has a Mustang. He only drives to work and back with his car...but works 25 miles away from home. I use mine mainly for my kids and errands, but the nearest mall is 17 miles away so I have cut down on going. Luckily we have grocery store and Target right nearby. But, the gas bill is awful!
17I get angry everytime I drive by the gas station.
18Glad I can opt for public transportation; it runs me $ 75.00 a month for unlimited rides for 30 days.
19About $45.
Yay Honda's!
...and yay working 2 miles from home
20Yay for living in NY and having public transportation! $81/month gets me everywhere I need to go!
21This is fking ridiculous!!!! Why not just call them 'gas checks' because they are basically telling us to buy gas with them.. wtf???? This is suppose to be our relief money and what relief is it giving us? Gas relief (lol no pun intended).. this is just nuts
2230-60 bucks a month.
23To much. I live in the country on a farm, and i have my car, a pick up and a motorcycle. which ever one has gas in it on monday is what i take to work. however, if i were to fill all three up its gonna be about 250+ easy. Its kinda depressing. I threatned to sell all of them an buy a moped that gets 50+ miles a gallon, to take to my day job, but then I would have to get up at 4am!
24I miss my $10 fill-ups of years gone by! My little hatchback does its best to get 35 mpg, even after 9 years of service, but it's helpless against the bumper-to-bumper commute traffic I face on the way home.
25I pay about $30/month in gas...yep, I drive a Prius and take the bus to work. It's amazing!
26I drive 30 miles to work (and school) 3 days a week (part-time) and I spend just about $200 a month.
I'm a student and I can't afford a better mileage car (I currently borrow my mom's) and I don't make enough to get "economic stimulus." I wish there were better jobs closer to home. :\
27No more than $40 a month on an average month. It's been costing me about $40 to fill up my tank, but I walk to work and only use my car for errands once or twice a week. That's what I love about living in the city - a car isn't an absolute necessity.
28Around $200 a month, and I only drive to school and work
29Gas is one of the hottest topics in the real estate blogosphere (outside of the mortgage crisis) it has been looked at on realestateyouropinion.com. More and more Gen Y buyers are choosing to live in locations with public transportation and more corporations like Google are providing shuttles. I try to cut down but still manage to use about a half tank per week in my Honda. (YIKES) One of my biggest small changes is to walk to the grocery store and coffee shop.
30I just moved but for the past year I had an hour commute to work; 60 miles one-way. I was spending $350 on gas a month and that was when gas was under $3/gallon.
I have since moved and now spend $120 gas a month - which is much more doable even considering the higher gas price.
31It takes 75.00 to fill up my tank, but I only have to do it about twice a month (unless we travel, do a weekend trip or something). But if I had to work and drive more than I actually do then obviously it would be much more than the between 100 and 200 range I voted.
32im up to about $500 a month, but i fill up every other day and my job pays me mileage. its still a pain in the ass though
33Between my fiance and I we spend over $1000 per month on gas. We each drive a little over 50 miles each way to work AND I carpool with a coworker.
34About $300 a month here. But I have a one-hour commute to work five days a week.
35I have to ask everyone that's paying hundreds of dollars a month - isnt this really cutting into your paycheck and quality of living? I have no idea how y'all are able to do it!
36I drive 30 miles round trip to work 4 days a week, plus to other places I go, I only pay about $160 for gas a month. (I factored the cost by calculating my average miles per month by $3.57 per gallon) Considering I drive a Jeep Cherokee.. that's pretty good.
37"I have to ask everyone that's paying hundreds of dollars a month - isnt this really cutting into your paycheck and quality of living?"
Yes! It sucks!
38Currently I pay less than $100 a month, however, I might have a new job opportunity on the horizon that will boost me up to the "between $100 and $200" closer to 200.
39Not very much because I live in a great and fun community with lots to do that is also near my work.
40j2e1n9 , it has cut into the paycheck, sure...but unless you call not being able to go out to dinner more or shop more for clothes I don't need a decrease in my standard of living, then no..it hasn't cramped our style at all. My husband HAS to work, he LOVES his job, and we don't have the option of moving closer to his job for another 4 years when our kids finish school. You make sacrifices. Besides, its not like we did anything to cause the gas crisis...that would be the government's fault IMO.
41most days i really miss driving...but my $81 unlimited monthly metrocard isn't looking so bad right now.
42it takes about $35 bucks (as of today) to fill my little 4-cylinder.
Anddddddd... that lasts me about a week.
43I pay a little over $50 a week...but I'd prefer that over living in a city with pollution, no countryside, and loud noise 24-7!!
44I don't drive where I am currently living.
45ugh...and i drive a suv for now...hopefully in a few months i can get a car with a whole lotta better mileage....plus driving to the grocery store..then having to pay higher prices for that...ugh..
46Because I work at home, I only spend b/w $50 to $100 a month on gas.
47I don't even want to think about it.
48I pay well over $200 a month.
49I drive quite a distance to work and the increase in gas prices is killing me!
