Last week the Treasury Department announced they'd be sending the rebate checks ahead of schedule. The IRS updated their old schedule and produced a new schedule on Monday, the first day that taxpayers started receiving their rebates. Please note that this schedule is different from the previously posted estimated schedule, as the IRS didn't release the below schedule until this week. Just as the checks started being deposited four days earlier than expected, the IRS notes that it will start mailing paper checks with an early start date of May 9. To see the official schedule, which applies to those who filed their returns by April 15, just read more

So, if I had my normal rebate direct deposited then this would be as well?

Savvy - how do we tell if the IRS has our direct deposit info or not? Last year, I got a refund and had it direct-deposited, but this year, I owed some money and had to send in a check. Will they use last year's information (it hasn't changed)? Thanks!

Tidalwave- Yes, if your tax refund was sent via direct deposit, than your rebate check would also be deposited directly to your bank account.

silly3- I checked the IRS website but couldn't find information to answer your question. If you're counting on the money for anticipated expenses, you may want to contact the IRS directly with your question.

Ugh! I'm in the 88-99 range AND I'm getting a paper check instead of the direct deposit. All of the "Spend Your Rebate Here" sales will be over by then Sad

This schedule is the same as the original posted by the IRS. I always knew about getting my rebate by May 9th. I thought there would be a new schedule because they are sending them out early....hmm.

seraphicstar- That would make sense to me, but there's not much information on the IRS website regarding the rebate check for those who owed this year.

PammyLZ- It seems that even though they started the process earlier than expected, the IRS wants to make sure they aren't getting ahead of themselves in case they can't get them out as fast as they predict. Even though they announced checks will start being sent on May 9, their schedule doesn't reflect that new date.

ok, my cousin's tax lady told her since she did the electronic filing with paying extra to get her check back faster that she will not get hers direct deposited even though her tax refund was direct deposited. She will get a paper check mailed by the 16th. Does that make sense??? Our was a paper return mailed in, but the tax refund was direct deposited into our account 3 weeks later. The SS# for ours ends in "58" so I am assuming May 9th is the latest we would get ours direct deposited?

my SSN ends on 01. But I haven't gotten my rebate cheque yet. I wonder if I'll even be eligible since even though I filed, i earned so little last year, they gave me EIC!

princessjaslew, I think you have to have an income of at least $3000 for the year and you are elgible.

toxicblueeyes, I totally get it...I am in the same boat this week..I was hoping to get mine real soon and so many people who should have gotten theirs this week still haven't gotten it. I am worried I won't get it on time either...mine is due no later than the 9th. I could REALLY use it this week though. Like yesterday! Some unexpected expenses came up this week!

    SavvySugar~
So basically the schedule is back to the original one? That puts me back to May 9th. I was supposed to have mine in my account today per the new schedule and I went online to the irs.gov site and it also gave me the exact dollar amount and the deposit date of May 9th. Talk about confusing everyone ):

faery is correct. You would have had earned $3,000 or more to receive rebate. EIC does not count because it was not income you earned. Hope this helps. Also visit www.irs.gov for more details on your situation.

This question is for the administrators on this site. I had my refund check direct deposited and my last digits of my SS are 64 so I assumed I would be getting my rebate deposited by May 9th. However, I just saw the new info that says if you had fee's taken our of your refund, my check will be MAILED instead. I've moved since I got my tax refund and I want to make sure it goes to the right place. What do I need to do to ensure that?

Hello all, Just found out, I filed on Turbo Tax, I had them deduct the fee to file and do direct deposit from my refund. I looked up Turbo Tax, Because the fee was deducted from my refund, My Check will now be mailed in the last of june, Insted of May 9. Here is what it say's.
Rebates and Refund Transfers Using Santa Barbara Bank & Trust
Updated: 5/06/2008Article ID: 6255IMPORTANT -- Using "Refund Transfer" with Santa Barbara Bank & Trust could affect when you get your rebate
Even if you have received or will receive your tax refund by direct deposit to your bank account using Santa Barbara Bank & Trust, the IRS will not do the same for your tax rebate. It will mail your rebate instead.

This applies only if you used the "refund transfer" service when filing. The service lets you pay for your tax preparation and/or e-filing from your refund proceeds, for an additional fee, rather than use a credit card.
    Good Luck All.
