While Thursday night's Ugly Betty featured some female ex-prisoners prepping to launch a fashion mag for those in menopause, former rogue trader and recently released inmate Jérôme Kerviel scored a new job of his own. The Société Générale trader was arrested for abusing his knowledge of the French bank’s electronic risk controls, which became a trading scandal that cost the French bank about $7.1 billion. So what kind of company recruits a man behind one of the biggest frauds in investment banking history? Find out where he's working and discover what you can learn from this rogue trader when you read more
According to the New York Times Kerviel started training at Lemaire Consultants & Associates, which specializes in computer security and system development. He has very little IT experience and his degree is in finance, yet his experience spoke for him and was met with a job offer.
Your resume is only part of the picture in identifying your qualifications. While most of us don't have publicity working in our favor, we do have cover letters that work for us when properly prepared. If you're applying for a job that's not in your field, always point to a couple specific experiences that show off your related skills.

wait, he's out of jail already? he's not spending years in jail?
1I think it because he used insider information to cause problems but the company he works for is actually held liable for any breach of information or securities fraud...still it seems like he should have been a bit older before he was out! LOL
2I had a similar situation. During my younger years I had a bit of a drug problem and did some stealing/credit card frauds while working for a big electronics chain. After some trouble, time and rehab I was ready to strt looking for work again. Well I applied at their competitor and told the main manager everything that happened, including how I did it and got away with it. He ended up hiring me and I helped implement some of their loss prevention measures. That was over 5 years ago now, but I'm still always amazed that he took a chance on hiring me!
3Good for you Renee, we all need a second chance sometimes and those who disagree haven't needed their second chance yet
4I believe in 2nd chances
