According to the New York Times Kerviel started training at Lemaire Consultants & Associates, which specializes in computer security and system development. He has very little IT experience and his degree is in finance, yet his experience spoke for him and was met with a job offer.
Your resume is only part of the picture in identifying your qualifications. While most of us don't have publicity working in our favor, we do have cover letters that work for us when properly prepared. 1I think it because he used insider information to cause problems but the company he works for is actually held liable for any breach of information or securities fraud...still it seems like he should have been a bit older before he was out! LOL
2I had a similar situation. During my younger years I had a bit of a drug problem and did some stealing/credit card frauds while working for a big electronics chain. After some trouble, time and rehab I was ready to strt looking for work again. Well I applied at their competitor and told the main manager everything that happened, including how I did it and got away with it. He ended up hiring me and I helped implement some of their loss prevention measures. That was over 5 years ago now, but I'm still always amazed that he took a chance on hiring me!
