Make Your Life Easier in Five Minutes

When you're setting yourself up for some major TiVo catchup this weekend, don't forget to bring your wallet and phone to the couch with you. Five minutes — of multi-tasking, no less — will save you money and time if your credit and debit card-filled wallet is ever stolen. My card has a toll-free number on the back that should be called in the event my card is lost or stolen, but that's no use to me if some thief is in possession of my card. Enter the 24-hour customer service numbers into your cell phone, so that in the event your wallet is swiped from your purse, you don't have to fumble around with a phone book or waste time calling 411. Preparation will always make you feel more in control — especially when your emotions are already heightened.

I realized this would be a good idea when my car broke down and I realized that my AAA card wasn't in my purse. So now everything is in my cellphone just in case.

This is a good tip! It also helps if you have a record of your CC number somewhere as well since I don't think many people, myself including, remember the number!

Great tip Savvy!! Also, you should make photocopies of the front and back of your card and keep them at home just in case.

Good tip! I am more likely to do that then to photocopy everything. When my wallet was stolen last year I just happened to have the numbers memorized and just told them "well if I had my card I would know my number" It worked pretty well! lol. but seriously it does make it easier for them to know your number.

Haha, SkinnyMarie, I love that: "Well if I had my card, I would know my number" is TOTALLY what I would tell them too!
