Some people enjoy having to dress professionally every day, and dressing the part can help keep you on your game. But for some, having to put on a certain type of outfit is more uncomfortable than anything and it can be expensive to build a work wardrobe apart from your casual one.
There are several careers that call for uniforms, like policewomen, pilots and flight attendants, firewomen, and anyone in the medical field. And while most uniforms aren't entirely flattering or made of the most comfortable materials, there's something enticing about not having to choose an outfit each day or having to invest in work clothes.

Nneeevverrrr! I love using fashion as a power instrument. Maybe my clients aren't impressed, but I loooove thinking that they are!
1Being a nurse, you don't usually have a choice, unless you work in a doctor's office where they will let you wear other clothes and a lab coat. It's not as big of a hassle to pick out what you're going to wear. Especially if you're limited to one color (blue for nurses).
On the flip side, however, scrubs can be expensive so sometimes you just want to wear jeans!!
2Sometimes I wish I had a uniform just for the ease some days but seriously, I don't think I could do it. I would get bored. I wore uniform in HS and after 4 years - I was ready to burn.
3I had a uniform for a few jobs back in the day, and I didn't mind it. It sure cut down on the morning hassle of trying to find something to wear.
4I didn't mind wearing a uniform to a few of my jobs and it definitely would be better than trying to figure out what's appropriate for certain jobs.
5As long as they pay for the uniform (and it fits nicely--comfortable) and launder those for me
As much as I enjoyed dressing up for work (in the past, I'm SAHM now), those clothes really set me back quite a bit
6uh..NO! i hated when i had to wear a uniform to aesthetician school...i mean really..i would not want to..because i have my own way of dressing that makes me feel comfortable and i dont want to look like everybody else.
7I wore a uniform for four years in the Navy. Seriously, I was and still am so excited that I get to dress up every day! And my hair and makeup gets to be however I want it to be. And holy sh*t NAIL POLISH. Really. Being restricted on that level made me crazy.
8Although I don't wear a uniform to work every day, by having to dress a certain way (slacks, shoes, etc) for work I already feel like I am wearing a uniform every day and I'd rather not deal with that extra pressure every day. That's just me, though. I do enjoy clothing, but I really wouldn't mind just wearing a uniform to work and not having to worry about what to wear :|
9I wish I could wear scrubs but I'm an engineer.
10I said no, but I don't want to have to dress up for work either. I think better when I'm comfortable.
11I was joking with a coworker the other day about this - we were out to lunch and saw a really cute mom in scrubs taking her kids to lunch.. and we were SO jealous of the scrubs!! They seem comfy, they come in many colors, and I'd never have to worry about buttons and hems and what heels...
I love being able to pick what I wear, and in a fashion sense enjoy my clothes... but the day to day really would be easier if I had the simplicity of a uniform. Like the guys of the office wear button down shirts, slacks, ties. Women have such a spectrum of choices and they all say something. Sometimes I think it would be really nice to not have to say something, and just have that same uniform...
12It would depend on the job.
13After working in a office for ten years the idea of wearing a uniform appealed to me. No more of my personal clothes destroyed at work. But umm...after five years of wearing dark brown polyester pants, a dark brown sweater, black shoes, and a medium brown shirt - emblazoned with my work id number in large orange numbers - I can say wearing a uniform everyday without fail SUCKS!
Even though my uniform is free, it's horribly oppressive. After the first year I realized while walking down the street after work that I am a huge target advertising where I work and exactly what I do for a living - I am no longer an individual to my fellow citizens of San Francisco. I am a F-ing MUNI DRIVER and that's all-The bane of their existence and root of all their problems even if they've never ridden with me or met me personally. Wearing the MUNI UNI is like being in a prison as a inmate. I have no say, can display no creative, I cannot get a respite from it. Once I have secured another job I will be setting all of my MUNI UNIs on fire in a bbq pit. My family is looking forward to it as much as I am.
14Oh yes my sister is an RN and she too wears a uniform. When she started as a nurse back in 1979 every nurse wore at every hospital wore the same uniform - a white dress with a tri-point white hat and stripes indicating what type of nurse you were.
When she stopped working in a hospital after she got married the rules changed and nurses could wear white pants or culottes then suddenly nurses could wear full on scrubs 24/7. Now that she's returned to work at a hospital she can wear whatever variety of styles of scrubs that she wants in whatever color and pattern that she wants. She loves wearing her brightly colored scrubs to work instead of white. She loves scrub catalogs and stores that cater to nurses. She must have 50 to 60 different types and styles and colors of scrubs in her closet.
She has a certain amount of freedom within the confines of wearing a uniform. A freedom I don't have.
15Yes, I have to wear scrubs to work, I don't mind. I don't have to get up early to put together an outfit. The colour is not flattering at all, but they're fairly comfortable.
16If I had a choice, no uniform for me, but if I liked the job, I wouldn't really care (unless it was itchy or made me sweaty).
17I used to have to, and never will again.
18I could wear scrubs to work every day, but I like dressing up.
19I have to wear a uniform and it's not THAT bad. I am jealous of the women who get to wear nice looking outfits and cute shoes to work, though
20A uniform would be easy. But I love clothes too much to give up dressing super cute for work.
21for some reason ive always wanted t owear a nurse uniform...it shows how important you are, some1 see's u in it and the yknow who u r and how important u r. ur dressed becuz thats wut u do.
22I would want to dress up because it changes your mentality. I worked from home for a while and if I didn't dress up, I didn't want to work--but that depends on your job. I don't work, but I still dress like I work in the corporate world sometimes because otherwise I'd never get to!
23give me scrubs any day! when you have to wake up at 5am, its such a pain having to figure out how to dress professionally!
24I enjoy being able to wear whatever I want to work. I work in an extremely casual environment so jeans are always acceptable!
25Having worked in retail I had to wear the crappy uniform from that store... it sucked but at least I didn't have to worry about what to wear.
26luckily, i work in a very casual business environment, where jeans and flip flops are perfectly acceptable. i wear jeans, but with nice cardigans and such.
27If I could wear hoodies and jeans to work everyday I'd be in heaven, lol.
I didn't miss having to do the whole "what am I going to wear" thing when I had jobs that required uniforms.
28I can wear whatever I want to work, so I love it. I can dress in jeans and a T-shirt (with heels of course--I don't want to look sloppy!) or I can wear a dress if I want. I like having options. Work is like a fashion show for me, especially since most people in my office wears Derby shirts from years' past and ugly jeans.
29I would be okay with a nice shirt that I could wear... but not pants or shoes. I would like to pick those!
30I am realllly hoping my uniform days are over. Between the military and the hotel job, I am pretty much done with uniforms.
31Hells yeah I would! I would love to be able to wear something comfortable like scrubs or the uniform the people who work at the gym have to wear. Sigh. That is my dream. To wear PJ like clothes all day long.
32Definitely. Shopping for work clothes is such a hassle and can be super expensive.
33OR chef wear looks comfy too.
34I have to wear uniform shirts daily and I hate it, I have a different shirt for each day of the week. Then I pre-choosen color pants of my choice with it. I just hate that when the shirts are picked out every 6 months they are shirts that I would never wear. The woman with the least amount of style in the office picks everything out.
35hell no! having to figure out what to wear to work forced me to develop a personal style, which i think is an important factor in how people perceive you. nothing perks me up quite like putting on my favorite outfit in the morning...
36I have a semi uniform for work, and I love it. Work regulated polo's and khaki's or work blues. It's mostly casual so if I really wanted on the odd occasion I could wear blue jeans, or instead of my work shirt I could dress up in a pants suit. The bottom line is, there's no competition. I'm the only girl technician at my company and dressing like everyone else in my department just makes the day go by easier and doesn't remind everyone of the gender gap (which does exist if noticed).
37It would be cute but also I like changing clothes with moods and styles every different day
38I don't mind the uniform because it keeps the workplace from becoming a fashion show.
39I wouldn't mind at all.
40The publishing industry doesn't pay enough for me to look snazzy everyday.
41love it! easy in the morning when my brain is unable to select appropriate combo's
i
don't care what i'm wearing if the pay is good. the worst job dress requirement i had was when i worked in retail. you had to wear that seasons looks every freakin day. who can affor that on
retail pay? also, just because the calendar says spring doesn't mean the weather cooperates. i was freezing or sweating a couple months a year.
42Our dress code is a little too detailed and bothersome for me, so I'd love to wear a uniform. I work for the city so I'd like to wear khaki pants and a polo shirt with the city logo. Simple.
