According to a recent report from TNS Retail Forward, a retail consulting company, a greater percentage of women have planned to reduce their spending from the same time last year compared to men. Stores that for the most part rely on women's apparel sales, like Nordstrom, Sears, Kmart, Limited Brands, JCPenney, Macy's, Gap Inc. and Kohl's, are especially feeling the cut back in American's spending. Mandy Putnam, VP at Retail Forward, notes discretionary income as the primary reason that women are taking a step back from shopping. "Women earn less," she says. "There are also more single parents who are women than men, and they are more likely to postpone purchases and shop in stores less frequently."

I agree. I also think that in a household where the couple shares the money, I would assume that usually the woman is the one who is in charge of budgeting/money. They know the crunch.
1That is so try. More single mothers then fathers. One of my good friends is a single mom and she has to watch every penny.
2I agree. I constantly worry about money. I hate being like this. I always worry and my husband doesn't and he keeps on spending!
3All I have to say i interesting choice of pictures - ummmm...Keanu shopping back in December 2007. Ah yeah I know I could even tell you the day that photo was taken.
Yeah Keanu sorry so off topic. :-0
4That is true. Women realize their soft spot for shopping and know that their instant gratification from shopping is their flaw. We also have other things that we'd rather spend our hard earned dollars on like hair/beauty/eating out/etc so we make sure to allot our spending to that instead. Men don't seem to know where their money is going. Every time the topic of budget and money comes up, my bf always says, "But I hardly ever go shopping".
5Credit Crisis is an understatment.
6The Euro is at a record high.
Crude Oil is at a record high. Opec will continue to reduce output.
The Sub Prime mortgage market is a free fall.
