Sometimes budgets are treated much like diets, which could be why it's tough for a lot of people to stick to them. Diets are harder to implement over the weekend because of eating out and drinking more and budgets follow a similar cycle. It's easier to follow a budget during the week because there's less free time to spend money. What's an easy fix? Just factor your extra weekend spending into your overall budget so that you don't end up dry before your next paycheck.

Oddly enough I think I do all my spending on the weekends.
1Er, aren't 1 and 2 compatible answers? Like...spending more money on the weekend is given, but I budget for that? I don't think any of the guilt associated with extra weekend calories is the same as extra weekend cash. You grocery shop on the weekends, and you do most of your entertainment and clothes shopping on the weekends. There is nothing wrong with that!
2I mean, if I'm spending money during the week, it means I'm buying Starbucks and lunch, not necessarily the most prudent purchases...though I love my coffee!
3Weekends cause going out costs $
4Weekends def!
5Oh yes...I usually go shopping on the weekends with my mom! My husband and I also do our grocery shopping and have a dinner/drinks night on the weekends too. So
6Oh, yeah. I usually do a lot of grocery shopping on weekends, and I go out a lot. What can I say? I'm enjoying my 20s!
7Yes, hubbie and I dine-out on the weekends, and it's factored within our budget. So it's cool.
8Budget conscious...pinching pennies right now...so keeping it even all week long...saving to splurge a little on our first anniversary in a month.
9I shop on the weekends. I only buy little things during the week.
10Without a doubt. We barely spend anything during the week- except for gas, which is a HUGE expense for us (about $1,000/month).
11I do most of my damage on the weekends
12My spending is pretty steady all days...wish I could say the same for my diet. **sigh**
13Of course I do. We do our grocery shopping on the weekends, so that's $100 right there for groceries, which is way more than I spend during the week. Honestly, I often don't spend ANY money during the week -- I pack my lunch every day, don't have time to go shopping, very very rarely eat out, etc.
14I spend less on the weekend, because grad school takes over my life on the weekend and I rarely go out
15Of course I do! I factor it in though as well
I barely spend any money durning the weekends unless I go shopping at lunchtime or go for a grocery run. And my company pays for my gas...
Weekends usually call for a mall trip, or a case of beer or some Grey Goose to enjoy somde drinks at home.
16I barely even go out to the bar either...maybe once or twice a month
I always spend more because of grocery shopping, errands, etc, that I don't get done during the week.
17Yeah, but it's because I leave early and come back pretty late after work and tutoring in the evenings, so the weekend is the only moment where I can be out of my flat and not in my office.
I don't even spend money on my lunch break since there's absolutely nothing around
here, apart from a terrible deli!
18i actually spend less on the weekends. during the week i buy food for lunch at work and then something on the way home for dinner but on the weekends - i don't usually have to pay. either my boyfriend or my mom takes care of the meals - so i have it easier. and i don't really go shopping on the weekends anymore. i used to be bad about it - but until i like my self image more - there will be no weekend shopping trips for me!
19Eh not really. I don't try to go overboard just because I have more free time on my hands.
20I chose the weekends are cheaper... but that's because I tend to be a HUGE fan of cheap happy hours, and less of a fan of going out on weekends.
21I spend more on the weekends. I do my grocery shopping, any clothes shopping and stuff like that on the weekends. Plus we tend to eat out on the weekends.
22Yes, of course I spend more on Shopurday.
23ugh---this weekend i spent wayyyy too much money! I'm def. regretting it this morning!
24i actually spend less on the weekends. mostly because i have no life and no where to go. i usually stay around the house and don't eat out. so I would say i save money on the weekends
25I'm trying to spend less on the weekdays - like on lunch, etc. I enjoy spending more money of the weekends because it is normally a social function.
26My spending is factored into my budget 90% of the time, I'd say. I do most of my errands on the weekend because I work full-time, so that's when most of my spending occurs.
27I try to balance out my spending and budget my fun. I also try to do things that don't focus so much on shopping.
28totally
29always do
but then i factor it into the budget come monday
if i over spent then the week is tight
i think my weekends are pretty much the only time i spend money through the term. during term between work and uni i just don't have time to spend money other than food and transport.
30@mandy_frost: me too! I am a sucker for coffee breaks with pals and happy hours during the week... on the weekend I stay in, read and rest from my long week!
31I dread the weekends! We spend more and eat more, so I end up feeling fat and poor!!!!!
32i only go out on fri, sat and sunday, so yep, i spend my money on the weekends
